Measuring Blinds for Square Bay Windows
Measuring for Square / Box Windows
Front Primary
Your front blind will span the entire width of your bay window. The two side return blinds will overlap the
large blind at the front.
Measure the width - Front
Measure the full width of the long window at the front of your bay window.
Use this as the width measurement for your front window blind.
Obstruction checks
Check your obstruction depth
Measure the distance from the frame of your window to the outside of any
obstructions, such as handles or vents. Make a note of this measurement.
Calculate the depth
For your front window blind, add the depth of any window obstructions such as handles to
the depth of the headrail. For wooden blinds this is 7.5cm.
Helpful Hints
Calculation example
If your window handle protrudes 4cm from your window frame, your calculation would
be 7.5cm + 4cm. So a total depth of 11.5cm.
Take note of your total depth
You will need your total depth measurement to accurately measure the width of your
return blinds in the steps to follow.

your return blind to finish. This is the width measurement of your return blind. Repeat this step for both
return blinds.
Measure the drop
Measure the height of your square bay window in three places.
Use the smallest measurement as your drop for all blinds.
Final step
Now enter your width and drop measurement, then select Recess as your sizing option. Repeat the process for
