Measuring for Curtains
Important Checks
Ensure that you have your curtain track or pole already installed when you measuring your curtains.
Measure your Curtain Width
Measure the full width of your pole or track and NOT simply the window itself.
Helpful Hints
Only measure the pole or track.
When measuring the width of your pole, measure between the pole ends not taking any decorative end pieces into consideration.

Wall-to-wall windows.
Only measure the window width if your window is wall-to-wall

Please note that the width of the curtain fabric will be more than the width of your curtain pole/track to accommodate for the fullness of your chosen curtain headers


  • Eyelet is 170% fullness
  • Pencil pleat is 200% fullness


  • Top Tip:

  • Select single curtains if you only one 1 curtains to cover the pole measurements already entered.
  • Select pair if you want 2 curtains to cover the pole/track measurements already entered
  • Curtains Track with Overlap
    If your track has a center overlap, measure both width separately and add it to your end-to-end measurement.
    Helpful Hints
    Calculation example.
    If your track width is 160cm. You will need to add an extra 20cm (10cm of each track overlap) to get your total width. The total width is 180cm.
    Measure the drop
    Decide where you would like your curtain drop to finish and follow the measurement instructions.
    Above the Window Sill
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to 1 cm above the window sill.
    Now measure from the top of the pole or track to 1 cm above the window sill.
    Above the Window Sill
    To hang the curtain so it sits just above the window sill, we recommend measuring from the top of the curtain pole or track and ending 1cm above the sill.
    Great for: Kitchen & Bathrooms.

    Measure from the top of your pole.
    Do not include decorative pole ends (finals).
    Perfect Drop.
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the window sill and deduct 1cm.
    Measure the drop
    Below the Window Sill
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the window sill and add 15cm.
    Now measure from the top of the pole or track to 1 cm above the window sill.
    Below the Window Sill
    To hang the curtain so it sits below the window sill, we recommend measuring from the top of the curtain pole or track and ending 15cm below the sill.
    Great for: Kitchen & Bathrooms.

    Measure the drop
    Floor Length
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor in three places and take the smallest measurement and then deduct 1cm.
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor and add 5cm.
    Floor Length most popular
    To hang the curtain so it sits neatly on the floor, we recommend measuring from the top of the curtain pole or track and ending 1cm above the floor.
    Great for: Living rooms, family rooms, or any high-traffic area.

    Measure from three places and take the smallest measurement and then deduct 1cm.
    Measure the drop

    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor and add 5cm.
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor and add 5cm.
    Pooled
    To hang the curtain so it pools on the floor, we recommend measuring from the top of the curtain pole or track to the floor and adding 5cm.
    Great for: Dining rooms, bedrooms or any room with less foot traffic.

    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor and add 12cm.
    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor and add 12cm.

    To hang the curtain so it generously pools on the floor recommend measuring from the top of the curtain pole or track to the floor and adding 12cm.
    Great for: Bedrooms & low-traffic rooms.

    Measure from the top of the pole or track to the floor length and add 12cm.
    Helpful Hint
    Pencil pleat or pinch pleat heading.
    When measuring the height for pencil pleat or pinch pleat curtain you may prefer to display the decorative ring and the pole. If so, measure the height from the underside of the decorative ring to where you want the curtain to finish at the bottom.

    To order your curtains, simply enter the width of your pole or track and the height measurements and complete the design of your curtains.
    Single or pair of curtains To order your curtains, enter the width of your pole or track whether you have chosen a single or pair of curtains. We will do the maths for you!
