No one likes to struggle to find the answer to a question, so it's a good job we're pretty knowledgeable in all things blinds. The even better thing is that we've decided to share our knowledge in our hub- If it's not here then it's not worth knowing.
Because we (real people) make your brand new blinds, exactly to your specification, there is a bit of a lead time on these blinds, only a few days but...
We currently live in the age of the internet, things are getting quicker and easier every day and we hardly notice; take Amazon’s One Click for example. A brilliant way for your kids to accidentally order too much loo roll. When you combine that with Amazon Prime you find yourself with a house full of stuff you don’t need and a dangerously low bank balance. It’s amazing, but we love it. And in some ways, hate it too.
But in this age of next day delivery and immediate gratification, an order being delayed a few days or a delivery being missed by couriers can be absolutely infuriating. While good things come to those who wait, anger and frustration come to those who wait too long.
Which brings me nicely to our lead times. We wish we could ship everything to you instantly; have your blinds cut, assembled and quality tested this afternoon and installed in your home by breakfast. But with made to measure items, we just can’t rush it. We are not selling products bought in bulk – shipped over in containers from China, tossed onto a warehouse shelf then stuffed into a lorry when you order.
We sell a handcrafted product made to your specifications, cobbled together with the hard work, sweat and tears (maybe not tears) by our highly trained craftsmen and women.
“Speed doesn’t always equal quality” as my wife keeps insisting, and for once she is correct. We need to take our time with your blind. Because all of our products are handmade, we need to go through rigorous quality checks before every single one ships out. When the factory is shipping around 1000 blinds a day this time can, unfortunately, build up. We really do want to get the blind out to you ASAP, so if it does take longer than originally advertised then you can be safe in the knowledge that we are just trying to get it right first time. But why can’t we just do this ahead of time?
Well unlike generic off the shelf warehouses (Amazon Fulfilment Centres for example), our warehouse is filled with orders ready to be dispatched – not pre-made items on the shelves. We can’t physically stock every blind combination, in every size from the minimum width to the maximum. That’s a number far too large to stock and even harder to work out. Say we have 500 products, all from 30cm X 30cm up to 300cm X 300cm and every one of those 500 products needed to be stocked in each size and colour…. that’s approximately (but a very exact) 36,450,000 products!
